The Flugge Farm

I spent my weekend out of the city and on an Australian wheat farm.  I cannot recall how many hectares (1 hectare = 2.47 acres) the farm was, but I remember looking across the land and thinking, 'This surpasses any Fairburian farm.'  The farm is twenty minutes from the nearest town--Katanning, WA.  The last five minutes of the drive leading to the main farm house is on dirt roads.  Needless to say, due to this isolation, the scenery was amazing:

Australian farmers are in their planting season, and I got to see firsthand what that truly means.  For a townee girl, this was pretty exciting.

These are barley seeds:

And wheat seeds:

And canola seeds:

And finally lupin seeds, to feed the sheep:

The Flugge's also raise sheep on their farm, and I got to tour the sheering sheds:

I've found my new favourite Australian dish: yabbies.

While on the farm, I took a whack at driving on the right side.  Shhhhhhhhhh
